New from Career Cruising (Summer 2004)
We wanted to send a quick note detailing changes we have recently made to Career Cruising’s Portfolio Tool, career profiles, and Career Advisor Management System.
Portfolio Tool and Resume Builder
---------------------------------------
We have added a new Volunteer Experience section to store detailed information
about volunteer positions in the Portfolio and display on the resume. This
may be particularly useful for schools where students are required to complete
a community service component or for centres that aid in resume preparation.
Students using the Education Plan section of the Portfolio now have a new
feature that tallies the total number of credits of their selected courses.
When students
enter their courses by grade level, a “Total Credits” counter keeps
track of the total number of credits selected. Students can use the tally to
help ensure that their course selections meet graduation requirements.
Users who have completed the My Skills component of Career Matchmaker can
now view their Skills Score in the Assessment Results section of the Portfolio
Tool for saved Career Matchmaker results.
A small change was also made to the Skills and Abilities segment of the Portfolio
Tool. Detailed comments can now be added that will appear when the Portfolio
is previewed or printed. Soon, students and clients will have the option to
include the comments they entered in the Extracurricular Activities and Skills & Abilities
sections on their resume as well.
Career Profiles
-----------------
In our last newsletter, we discussed the “Suggested High School Subjects” section
of the career profile. This feature is designed to help get students thinking
about the high school courses they need to take to achieve their career goals.
This section has been reformatted so that it appears directly on the Education
page rather than in a pop-up window.
Career Advisor Management System
------------------------------------------
We have also made significant changes to the Administrative Tools—the
primary change being its name. It is now called the Career Advisor Management
System, or CAMS. Please look for more information about CAMS in our upcoming
September newsletter.
